About TEFLAC
Techniques to Enhance Critical Foreign Languages and Curriculum (TECFLAC)

TECFLAC is a three year grant totaling $748,000.00 designed to improve and expand the Foreign Language program at the Cincinnati Public School’s Academy of World Languages. The overarching goal is to improve the language acquisition performance of 75% or more of the target student population in critical language acquisition of Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and/or Russian. Year one focused on Chinese. Years two and three are focusing on Arabic, Japanese and Russian.

Goals of TECFLAC:
- Identify measurable grade level assessments to ensure high quality instruction and consistent evaluation methods

- Enhance instruction through innovative teaching methods including integrating the following technology resources: mobile iPod cart, mobile learning lab, instant response system, video conferencing, interactive white board and on-line assessments

- Establish a network of educational, community, state, national and international partners

- Provide an accurate evaluation of the program for the purpose of fostering replication of the effective strategies identified and developed throughout implementation

Highlights:
Technology integration will play a major role in the grant’s implementation as AWL works to enhance language acquisition in the four critical languages through integration of the following technology resources:

sound enhancement system
classroom technology infrastructure
